Important points about the vaccines include:
- You will need to get two vaccinations for the vaccine to be effective (21 days between first and second dose for Pfizer and 28 days between first and second dose for Moderna).
- This vaccine is given intramuscularly like the flu shot.
- The most common side effects include soreness of arm and fatigue.
- Make sure you qualify before scheduling an appointment.
- If you have had COVID in the past few months or currently have symptoms, you may not quality for the vaccine at this time even if you meet other criteria.
- Keep your vaccination card from your first visit and be sure to schedule your appointment for your next vaccination.
- The vaccine does not guarantee you do not get COVID-19 – this is a safety measure that gives your body a chance to know how to fight it in case of exposure.
- It is still important to maintain social distancing, to wash your hands and to wear a mask.
